Russ Lawson has announced that Botkins High School midfielder, Jared
Boyd has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at HU this fall.
This past season, Jared helped lead the Trojans to a 12-3-2 record
while scoring a team-high 12 goals. He capped off his senior year
with a selection to the Miami Valley All District 1st
Team. Boyd finishes his career as Botkins all-time leading goal
scorer and assist leader with 52 goals and 11 dishes.
“With Jared we are getting a versatile
player who has the ability to play all roles in the midfield,” said
Coach Lawson. “His ball distribution and composure are very solid.
When you combine those qualities with his knack for getting forward
and finishing, we feel we have a lot to be excited about.”
Boyd also will be
helping to blaze a trail in one of Huntington’s newest departments
by pursuing a nursing degree. Jared is the son of Jon and Lori Boyd
of Wapakoneta, OH.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college
located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1100
students. Athletically, HU is a member of the Mid-Central
Conference (MCC) and competes in fourteen NAIA intercollegiate
sports for both men and women. |
