Coach Russ Lawson has announced that South Adams High School
standout Adam McLaughlin has signed a letter of intent to join the
Forester program this fall.
As a senior captain, McLaughlin
helped lead the Starfires to their best record in school history and
the school's first sectional championship. His abilities earned him
First Team All-Conference honors in each of the past three seasons.
In his final season, McLaughlin was in the top 10 in the state in
both goals scored (31) and assists (15) both of which are school
records. He also will graduate holding South Adam's all-time
record for goals scored in a career with 50 and career assists with
27. McLaughlin also was a member of the Citadel FC the past
two years.
“The coaching staff
is thrilled that Adam has decided to continue his playing career at
Huntington,” says Coach Lawson. “His pace and finishing ability will
enable him to make a smooth transition to the speed of the
collegiate game. He has the versatility to play either flank as
well as up top.”
McLaughlin
will make an impact
off the field as he will enter as a HU Honor student studying Youth
Ministries. He is the son of Joy and Todd McLaughlin from Berne, IN.
Huntington University is
a Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, IN with an
enrollment of approximately 1100 students. Athletically, HU
competes in fourteen NAIA intercollegiate sports for both men and
women and is a member of the Mid-Central Conference.
