University soccer coach Russ
Lawson announced the addition of Steven Roberts to his incoming 2008
class.
Roberts, who was
a senior captain for Bishop Dwenger High School, will look to add a
scoring punch to the Forester’s front line. In his final season as a
Saint, he found the back of the net 16 times and earned First Team
All-Conference honors in the Summit Athletic Conference. It marked
the third consecutive year that Roberts received All-Conference
recognition.
“Steven plays
the game at a pace that can make a difference in the MCC," stated
Coach Lawson. "He has a lethal strike from outside the box as well
as excellent touch.
He has great
offensive instincts, knows how to finish and has the versatility to
play up front or in the middle of the park.
That combination of
skills is something we are really excited about. His transition to
the collegiate game should be smooth, allowing him to challenge our
returning players for minutes up front."
Off
the field Roberts will pursue a degree in Biology. He is the son of
Theresa Roberts from Fort Wayne, IN.
