University Men’s Soccer Coach Russ Lawson announced that Kurt
Sanders, a senior standout at Fort Wayne Snider High School, has
signed a Letter of Intent to continue his soccer career as a
Forester.
During his four
year varsity career, Sanders helped lead the Panthers to three
Summit Athletic Conference (SAC) and two IHSAA sectional
championships. Sanders also has gained tremendous experience
playing club soccer for the Fort Wayne Fever in the Super Y and
Midwest Regional Leagues the past two years. The competition has
given Sanders great preparation for the pace and physical demands of
collegiate soccer. Sanders’ courage, discipline and decision-making
abilities in the backline earned him First Team honors in the SAC in
both 2007 and 2008 and All-District II honors in 2008.
“Kurt is a gifted defender who reads the game extremely well and
distributes well,” said Coach Lawson. “We expect him to have an
outstanding career here at HU.”
Off
the field, Sanders has taken on numerous leadership roles. He is a
student leader with Young Life, an Ambassador for ‘Stay in Bounds’
and currently Snider’s Student Council President. In the classroom,
Sanders will focus his efforts in the Recreation Management
program.
Kurt is the son of Michael and Jeanette Sanders from Fort Wayne,
Indiana. He is also the brother of graduating Forester soccer senior
Joel Sanders.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts university
