Christian High School senior, Ben Swartz, signed a Letter of Intent
to continue his soccer career at Huntington University.
As a senior, Swartz led Troy Christian with 24
goals, five
assists and was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All
Area. He earned the Team Total Performance Award and played in the
All-Dayton All Star game. He also is a member of the National Honor
Society and a three-year Scholar-Athlete. Swartz will graduate with
a career total of 61 goals, 15 assists and as a three-time First
Team All-Conference award winner. During his junior year, he was
selected to receive the Metro Buckeye Conference Sportsmanship
Award, the Total Team Performance Award and the Team Offensive
Player of the Year Award. As a freshman at Temple Christian High
School, Schwartz had 18 goals and was listed as All-District
Honorable Mention by the Northwest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches’
Association.
“Ben’s
leadership and technical ability in the midfield allows him to
control tempo while his speed is strong enough to get in behind
defensive units” said Coach Lawson. “He is also a creative finisher
that will add to our offensive output. Ben is a gifted player and we
are blessed to have him.”
Beyond athletics, Swartz has been involved in
mission trips to Africa, Honduras, Mexico and has done Hurricane
Katrina relief. He also has been a vital part of the leadership at
Troy Christian, not only being a captain on soccer team, but in
mentoring Junior High students as well as being apart of the chapel
committee.
Swartz
will look to study nursing when not on the soccer field.
Ben is the son of Paul and Carols Swartz of Botkins, Ohio.
