After coming close on a variety of occasions, the Foresters finally
broke through with a decisive 4-0 victory over MCC foe Spring Arbor
University. HU connected on its
first goal off a corner kick nine minutes into the match.
Taylor Zeman sent it into the box and Brad Kunze put it in the net.
At the 40:31 mark, Zeman got things started again for the Foresters
with a pass to Marvin Martinez who served a through ball to Adam
McLaughlin for the score. The half expired with HU holding the 2-0
lead.
Eight minutes into the second period,
the Foresters sent a long ball into the box, and some
miscommunication by the Cougar defenders led to an own goal giving
HU a 3-0 advantage. Brad Kunze then completed the scoring with a
successful penalty kick in the 69th minute.
"I'm really proud of the guys," said Coach Lawson. "They fully
deserved the victory today with their ability to control the tempo
of the game and the way they finished their opportunities."
HU keeper Kevin Keske
tallied five saves to record the shutout. Spring Arbor out-shot the
Foresters 10-7, but both teams had five shots on goal.
With the victory, the Foresters move to
4-9-2
on the season and 1-4-1 in conference play. |
