An opportunistic goal in the first five minutes of play gave the
University of St. Francis all the offense it would need to edge the
Foresters 1-0. Five minutes
into the contest, the Cougars drove the ball into the Foresters'
box. As a mad scramble ensued, the ball took a St. Francis bounce
directly to the foot of Cougar Jake Briede and he drove it home for
the eventual gamewinner.
The Foresters regrouped and created a
couple of outstanding scoring chances, but couldn't connect.
The final 85 minutes elapsed with neither team adding to the
scoreboard.
"We came out and gained momentum immediately with an aggressive
approach that created a couple of fantastic scoring opportunities,"
said Coach Lawson. "I was extremely pleased that we quickly
put their goal behind us and regained the momentum. This was a
well-played match that I'm sure was entertaining for the fans."
Both teams generated 11
shots in the match and HU keeper Kevin Keske recorded eight saves.
With the loss , the Foresters drop to 4-10-2
on the season and 1-5-1 in conference play. |
