On a beautiful Homecoming afternoon, the Foresters rallied behind a
boisterous crowd to earn the 1-1 tie against MCC foe, Taylor
University. The Foresters drew
first blood with a Steven Roberts score 15 minutes into the match,
but Taylor got the equalizer nine minutes later. Both teams
battled through the remainder of regulation and two overtime
periods, but both defenses held.
"There were a lot of momentum shifts,
great counter attacking, bone crushing tackles, and phenomenal saves
which made for an exciting afternoon of soccer for our many fans,"
said Coach Lawson. "I was pleased that we were able to create
quality opportunities and possess more today against Taylor’s
pressure in the middle third. The guys played their hearts out
today!"
HU keeper Kevin Keske played a
tremendous game in goal with 13 saves on the day. "Kevin made
several acrobatic saves today to keep us in the match and helped us
secure our first point in conference play," said Coach Lawson.
HU moves to 3-7-2 on
the season and 0-3-1 in MCC play. |
