04.21.09 - Huntington University soccer coach Russ Lawson announced the addition of Derek Ressler to the 2009 roster.  This Central Christian High School senior is yet another solid piece to a very talented incoming class. “Derek has the speed, touch, and vision needed to compete at this level,” stated Lawson.  “I am looking forward to having him bring a work rate that will enable him to compete in our midfield and front line.”

Ressler has gained valuable experience throughout his high school career leading his team against some of the best soccer programs in the state of Ohio in the Akron/Canton area which has a rich history with the game of soccer at all levels.  As a senior at Central Christian, Ressler had a tremendous final season being named First Team All-District, First Team All-Wayne/Holmes County and First Team Greater Akron Coaches Association.

Ressler also excels in the classroom and will be entering Huntington as a Presidential Scholar. He will look to focus his studies on exercise science with an emphasis on athletic training. Ressler is the son of Wayne and Beth Ressler from Apple Creek, Ohio.

Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts university located in Huntington, IN with an enrollment of approximately 1200 students.  Athletically, HU is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC) and competes in fourteen NAIA intercollegiate sports for both men and women.
