The
Foresters continued their winning ways with two wins over the
weekend. On Friday night HU defeated the Bearcats of Brescia
University 2-1. HU's first score came when Marvin Martinez
scored directly off a corner in the 58th minute. Less than
seven minutes later Brescia equalized with a header off a scramble
in the box to knot the score 1-1.
The Foresters quickly regained momentum and their pressure finally
paid off as Brad Kunze headed in the game winner of a pass from
Dustin Shafer at the 84:15 mark.
HU outshot Brescia 15-8. The Foresters also enjoyed a 14-2
corner kick advantage. Keeper Kevin Keske turned in a solid
performance with five saves on the day.
"Our defensive pressure and shape was excellent all games as we
limited Brescia to just a couple of dangerous scoring opportunities.
I was especially proud of how the boys did not drop their heads
after they gave up the goal and quickly regained the momentum," said
Coach Russ Lawson.

On Saturday the Foresters easily disposed of Shawnee State
University 5-0. HU's first score came 15 minutes into the game
when Taylor Zeman found Steven McKay streaking in behind. Only
minutes later Brad Kunze scored off a header in the box from a well
placed Zeman corner kick.
Three minutes into the second half Jared Boyd put the game out of
reach when he found the back of the net off another Zeman assist.
HU's fourth goal came at the 62:57 mark from a penalty kick by Brad
Kunze. With four minutes left freshman Seong Min Jo redirected
Brandon Gamble's strike for HU's fifth and final goal of the
contest.
The Foresters outshot the Bears 20-6. "I was concerned at how
we came out today and how we allowed Shawnee State to dictate the
first fifteen minutes of the game. Our first goal was
fantastic and was just what we needed as the boys dominated the rest
of the match. Taylor and Brad controlled the middle of the
park, our defense was locked in and composed, and the finishing was
solid," said Coach Lawson.
