Our Foresters fell in the season opener to a strong Spring Arbor squad by the final score of 3-1. The first half was very close, ending with the score at just 1-0 in favor of SA. HC continued to press the attack in the second half and found net when Eric Strom scored late in the half. HC falls to 0-1. In game #2 of the season, our Foresters got off to a slow start against Urbana University falling behind 3-0 within the first 15 minutes. HC was never able to fully recover but did collect a goal, falling by the final score of 3-1. HC is now 0-2 on the season. In game #3 of the season, our Foresters played a very strong first-half against a talented St. Joseph's University team, entering the mid-way break down just 1-0. St. Joseph's would score two goals late in the contest to close out the scoring at 3-0. HC falls to 0-3 in the season. In game #4 of the season, our Foresters fell to conference opponent Goshen College by the final score of 2-1. HC had a scoring opportunity late in the 2nd period but fell short in a very close match. HC is now 0-4 on the season but improving with each outing. In game #5 of the season, the men's soccer team broke the ice, collecting a 3-2 win over Bluffton College. Trailing 2-1 at the midway point, our Foresters rallied in the 2nd period by goals from Tim Caldwell and Aaron Norris. Norris hit the game winner going one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper with about 9:30 left in the game. Our Foresters are now 1-4 on the season. One down--more to come. Great job Foresters! In game #6 of the season, the men's soccer team collected a huge win against conference opponent Indiana Wesleyan University. The final score was 3-2, with Tim Caldwell collecting the game winning goal on an assist from Eric Strom. Caldwell had two goals in this game and teammate Josh Whipple collected a goal. This win gives the Foresters an 2-4 overall record, and an 1-1 record in the MCC. In game #7 of the season, the men's soccer team fell in a real heartbreaker to Marian College by the final score of 2-1. The score was tied at the end of the first period 1-1. Each team had several opportunities to score in the 2nd period but regulation ended wit the score still knotted at 1-1. Just 35 seconds into the extra period, Marian found the back of the net, winning the game 2-1. Eric Strom scored the lone goal for HC. HC falls to 2-5 on the season, 1-2 in the MCC. In game #8 of the season, the men's soccer team traveled to Chicago to play nationally ranked Trinity Christian College. HC's young squad fell to the more experienced TC squad 6-0. HC is 2-6 on the season. In game #9 of the season, the men's team played Moody Bible Institute. This was another very close contest, with the score after two extra periods and regulation play ending in a 1-1 tie. With this tie HC breaks a string of six consecutive extra period losses--dating back to the 1999-2000 season. HC is now 2-6-1 on the season. In game #10 of the season, the men's team fell to conference opponent St. Francis University 3-0. For the season, our Foresters are now 2-7-1 overall, 1-3 in the MCC. In game #11 of the season, the men’s soccer team fell to visiting conference opponent Grace College by the final score of 2-1. HC fell behind 2-0 in the first-half but rallied to score late in the second-half. HC nearly tied the game with less than one minute remaining but just missed a god scoring opportunity. HC falls to 2-8-1 overall, 1-4 in the MCC. In game #12 of the season, the men's soccer team dropped ANOTHER heart-breaking overtime loss. This time the recipient of the Foresters gift was Franklin College. The final score was 1-0. HC did outshoot Franklin 16-4 in regulation. This now leaves the Foresters record at 2-9-1,1-4 in the MCC. Wednesday night we travel to face the nationally ranked Bethel College at 7pm In game #13 of the season, the soccer team fell to a very strong Bethel College squad by the final score of 8-0. Coach DeCou, while applauding his teams effort, shared that Bethel's national ranking is certainly deserved as they may be the best squad HC has faced this season. HC falls to 1-5 in the MCC, 2-10-1 overall. In game #14 of the season, HC lost to Olivet Nazarene by the final score of 2-6. HC is currently 2-11-1 on the season, 1-5 in the MCC. Next up for our Foresters is Taylor University. In game #15 of the season, HC lost to MCC opponent Taylor University by the final score of 3-0. HC falls to 2-12-1 on the season, 1-6 in the MCC. In game #16 of the season, HC played Manchester College. HC fell to Manchester by the final score of 3-2, in overtime. Eric Strom and Tim Caldwell each collected one goal. HC falls to 2-13-1 on the season. In game #17 of the season, HC participated in the first round of the MCC Tournament Championship. HC fell to top seed Bethel College by the final score of 5-0. HC ends their season with an overall record of 2-14-1.
