Lambright was HC's bright spot in the opening round of the men's MCC tennis
tournament as he picked up the Foresters' lone singles win and teamed with
Mitchell McDonald for HC's only victory in doubles play. Lambright
knocked off Goshen College's Jordan Mumaw 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the
semifinals in singles being held today. In doubles action, McDonald and
Lambright held off Grace College's #2 doubles team 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the
next round. In other first round matches, #1 Tyler Moore lost a tough
three-setter 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to Taylor's Jorge Burmicky, while #2 Mitchell
McDonald (6-2, 6-0), #3 Jason Stump (6-1, 6-4), #4 Daron Short (6-2, 6-1),
and #5 Brandon Curtis (6-2, 6-1) all lost in straight sets. At #1
doubles, Moore and Short lost a close match to Grace falling 7-6 (5), 6-4,
and at #3 doubles, Stump and Curtis also came up short as they lost in three
6-4, 4-6, 4-6. |
