- Huntington University head tennis coach Gary Turner will serve
as camp director for the 2005 Summer Tennis Camp on July 5-8 and July
11-14, 2005, at the Huntington University Tennis Courts. The camp
offers collegiate level instruction for both boys and girls in grades
6-12 (grades next fall). Fundamental skills will be emphasized along
with the teaching and analysis of individual skills. Campers will
participate in high intensity drills and competition against other
campers.
Camp instruction for grades 6-8 will be
held from 8:00-9:30 a.m., and instruction for grades 9-12 will be held
from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, Friday, July
15, will be used as a make-up day.
Turner, who also serves as the
University’s athletics director, has 30 years coaching experience as
well as experience as a club pro. “Tennis is a sport that kids can
learn and participate in for their entire lives,” Turner says. “What
I want to do is teach them the fundamentals so they can enjoy the
sport throughout high school and into adulthood.”
Cost for the camp is $50.00 for one week
and $75.00 for two weeks. A camp t-shirt is included. Checks should
be made payable to Gary Turner at Huntington University, 2303 College
Avenue, Huntington, IN 46750. |
