| 9.30.04 - The
Foresters have continued to improve all season and had an opportunity to
prove it as they narrowly lost to Grace 5-4. Early in the season, the
Lancers soundly defeated the Foresters 8-1. With the score tied at
3-3 after singles, HC needed to come up with a couple of doubles wins, but
could only win one. The match was close the entire way as four of
the six singles matches were three-setters. The match of the day came
at #3 singles where the HC's Jason Stump was trailing 4-0 in the third set,
but stormed back to win the last six games of the match. The lone
double winner for the Foresters was Brian Lambright who dropped the first set
of his singles match 7-5, then cruised to an easy 6-2, 6-1 win. He then
teamed with Mitchell McDonald to win 8-6. Tyler Moore picked up the
fourth HC win at #1 singles where he avenged his early season loss to Landon
Reiesnider with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. “I am extremely proud of the way
the guys came back,” said Coach Turner. “After getting beaten so
badly earlier this season, they could have come out flat and not ready to
play. But they showed that they can play with the rest of the MCC.”
With the loss, the men fall to 2-8 on the season. |
