- The Forester
men began the day playing singles and came up with just two wins at #1
and #2. In order to win the match, HU would need to sweep the
doubles. The Foresters kept Bethel on the defensive in all three
matches and came up with the needed sweep to pull off the 5-4 victory
over the Pilots.
Tyler Moore and
Gonzalo Vivas were double winners on the day. Moore got the win at #1
singles when Kiko Cortez retired in the third set and he teamed with
Mitchell McDonald at #1 doubles for the 8-4 victory. Vivas defeated
Jared Shriner in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 at #2 singles and paired with
Adam Widener for the 8-6 win at #2 doubles. At #3 doubles, HU’s James
Makula and Matt Cable won 8-6 to complete the sweep.
“Our guys really played smart, aggressive doubles today,” said Coach
Turner. “I am so proud of the way they handled themselves after
struggling through singles. We have been really emphasizing doubles
and it showed today.”
The men move to 2-1 on the season and are 1-0 in the MCC. |
