The men’s tennis team is hoping to use its experience and the addition of a solid incoming class to improve on its seventh place finish in the MCC last season.  Coach Turner will look to senior All-Conference player Tyler Moore as well as seniors Mitchell McDonald and Ross Blakely for leadership.

Topping the list of newcomers is sophomore transfer Gonzalo Paolo Vivas.  Vivas, originally from Peru where he was ranked in the top 10 in the country in 18 & under boys in 2005, played his freshman year at Washburn University.  The 5’5” lefty should push Moore for the #1 spot. “Even though Gonzalo is small in size, he has a big game and will be a valuable asset to our team,” said Coach Gary Turner.  “He has all the tools to be one of the best players in the conference.”

Keaton McDonald, a doubles player from Westview HS in Shipshewana, finished his senior year with a 22-3 record at #1.  Throughout his HS career, McDonald won three sectional championships and three NECC Championships.  He was named All-Conference and All-Area his final season.  “Keaton’s biggest challenge will be to gain experience as a singles player,” said Coach Turner.  “He has been working over the summer to get ready to play singles when he arrives at HU.  He will be a great asset to our doubles line-up with his background in doubles.”

Jeff Hart comes from Taylor HS in Kokomo where he was the #1 singles player.  He was a four-year All-Conference player in the MIC and was the Team MVP his senior year.  He ranks fourth at Taylor HS in career wins.  “Jeff is a somewhat unknown talent,” said Coach Turner.  “His high school record and leadership will be welcome additions to the Foresters.”
