- Heading into the conference tournament later this week, the Foresters ended
on a high note by slipping past Bethel 5-4.
The Foresters got things started by winning two of the three doubles
matches. Gonzalo and Martin Vivas enjoyed the 8-6 win at #1
while Jameel and Jon Brenneman made quick work at #2 with an 8-1
victory. Keaton McDonald and Paul Hageman weren't quite so fortunate
at #3 as they lost 8-4.
In singles action the two teams split. Gonzalo secured the
6-2, 6-3 win at #1 while his brother Martin (#2) took his opponent
to a third pro set but fell short losing 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Jameel
got the easy win at #3 6-2, 6-2. Jon outlasted his opponent in
an exciting 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-5) win at #4. Hageman (#5) and
McDonald (#6) came up short losing 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2
respectively.
The Foresters end their regular season play 3-6, 2-5 in conference.
The 2009 MCC Men's Tennis tournament kicks off on Thursday at
Indiana Wesleyan.
