04.12.05 With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, HC's April Snider drilled a single just out of the reach of Grace College's shortstop to drive in the winning run and help the Foresters earn a split in the doubleheader with the 7-6 victory.  The Lancers won the first game with a 2-0 shutout.

HC had to come from behind to pick up their first win in MCC play.  Grace plated four runs in the top of the first, but the Foresters responded with two in their half of the inning.  The Lancers went up 6-2 in the fifth, but HC wouldn't go away quietly.  The Foresters got two back in the bottom of the fifth and one in both the sixth and seventh to force the extra inning of play.  Kendra Stahl finished the game with two triples and Liz Rapone and Kaley Fode each added a double.  Rapone (2-4) also picked up the win in relief for HC.  She gave up no hits or  walks and struck out one in three innings of work.

In game one, Grace's Mary Liebsch tossed a four-hitter to shut out the Foresters.  Emily Burkholder had the only extra-base hit for HC with a double.  Renae Schortgen (0-7) had a solid performance on the mound for HC, but got no help from her offense.  She gave up two runs, one earned, on eight hits and one walk, while striking out three.

With the split, the women now stand at 4-19 on the season and 1-9 in the MCC.
