The Mid-Central
Conference (MCC) has announced its softball awards for the 2007 spring
season. Two Huntington University Foresters, junior Kendra Stahl
(Archbold, OH) and sophomore Lauren Ward (Butler, IN) repeated as
First Team selections. HU freshman Brittney Bateman and sophomore
Brittany Gower received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
Bethel College took
home all of the individual honors with third baseman Britny Beneker
named MCC Player of the Year, Brittney Hire named the Pitcher of the
Year and head coach, Anna Welsh, selected as the Coach of the Year.
Stahl, HU's centerfielder, played 33 games during the regular season
without an error and led the team with five triples, 24 runs scored,
39 hits and a .386 batting average. Ward, the Foresters' leading
pitcher, won nine games for the Foresters, tallied 110 strikeouts on
the season and posted a team-leading 2.10 ERA. Bateman played third
base for HU and hit .315 on the season. She scored 21 runs and led
the team with 13 stolen bases. Gower, HU’s leftfielder, had a .321
batting average and drove in 10 runs.
Joining the Foresters on the All-Conference First Team were Danielle
Beckett (Spring Arbor), Britny Beneker (Bethel), Jaime Cade (Spring
Arbor), Christi Church (Indiana Wesleyan), Sandy Corum (Marian), Mandy
Cripe (Bethel), Jessica Fankhauser (Taylor), Brittney Fisher (Bethel),
Leah Gulbranson (Indiana Wesleyan), Brittney Hire (Bethel), Janna
Klassen (Spring Arbor), Kaitlyn Klein St. Francis), Hillary Meals,
(Indiana Wesleyan), Amy Richardson (Taylor), Kerrie Schludecker
(Marian), Kasee Spangler (Marian), and Somer Stilley (Bethel). |
