04.17.08 - The Foresters had a hard time getting the bats going as they fell 3-2 in game one to Manchester College, but then rallied for the 8-0 victory in game two.

The Spartans scored first in the opener with a run in the top of the fourth.  HU immediately responded with two in their half of the frame.  Manchester then took advantage of a Forester error to plate two and reclaim the lead in the top of the sixth. HU failed to answer and dropped the first game.

Lauren Ward took the loss for the Foresters.  She allowed three unearned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out 10. Brittany Gower had two hits to lead HU at the plate.

In game two, the Forester bats finally came alive. HU banged out five hits and scored six runs in the bottom of the first to take command of the game.  Laura Baas drove in two on a double to left followed by a Janalee Boroff fielders' choice that drove in Baas.  Ashley Scally's infield hit scored Keri Badenhop, then Tabitha Truax doubled in Scally. Finally Megan Smith belted a triple to left that plated Truax to complete the scoring in the inning.

The Foresters added two more in the third and then held the Spartans scoreless to end the game early.  Scally picked up her first win of the season with the shutout.  She went the distance and allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out five in the victory. Truax went 2-2 at the plate to lead HU.

With the split, the Foresters move to 8-14-1 on the season.
