04.22.08 - Purdue University North Central ended the Foresters' five-game winning streak as HU fell 5-4 and 8-4 to the Panthers.

In the opener, the Foresters held a slim 4-3 lead through six complete innings, but allowed PNC to score twice in the top of the seventh.  Brittney Bateman bunted for a base hit to leadoff HU's final at-bat, but the Foresters couldn't take advantage of it.

Lauren Ward (7-8) went the distance in the loss. She allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five.  Kendra Stahl and Laura Baas both led the team with 2-3 performances at the plate.  Stahl also scored two runs and drove in one.

In the nightcap, the Panthers pounced on HU early with four runs in their first at-bat.  The Foresters got two back in their half of the first with some aggressive baserunning and two timely hits from Brittany Gower and Baas.  PNC came back with one in the second and another in the third to make it 6-2.  HU continued to battle and plated another pair of runs in the bottom of the third, but the Panthers answered back with two in the top of the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Ashley Scally (3-7) had her personal three-game winning streak snapped in the loss.  She allowed eight runs on 12 hits and two walks and she struck out one.  Gower went 3-4 and had two RBI in the game to lead the Forester offense.
