04.23.08 - In their final MCC match-up of the season, the Foresters took a pair of games from Taylor University with a convincing 11-0 win in game one and a come-from-behind 3-2 win in the nightcap.

HU (14-16-1, 9-7) left no doubt in the opener with four runs in the first, a pair in the third and five more in the fourth to shorten the game to a five-inning victory.

Lauren Ward evened her season record at 8-8 with the win.  She threw a two-hit shutout and allowed one walk while striking out five Trojans.  Kendra Stahl went 3-3 at the plate for the Foresters and Ashley McCann had two doubles and four RBI in the contest.

In game two, Taylor got on the board first with a run in the top of the third and another in the fifth.  HU knotted the score with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.  McCann scored first on a Trojan error and then Britney Bateman bunted for a hit that pushed Megan Smith across.

Neither team scored in the sixth and things were still tied when the Foresters came up for their final at-bat in the bottom of the seventh.  McCann led off the inning with a walk.  Emily Canary came in to pinch run for McCann and moved to second when Taylor misplayed Smith's ground ball.  Kendra Stahl singled down the leftfield line to load the bases, and then Bateman came up with a single to shallow right-center to score Canary for the game-winner.

Ward, who came on in relief of starter Ashley Scally with two outs in the top of the fifth, picked up the win for HU.  She held the Trojans scoreless over the final two and a third innings and allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out one.  Bateman finished the game with three hits and two RBI to lead the Foresters at the plate.
