04.26.08 - As the regular season came to a close, the Foresters had an opportunity to even their season record, but dropped a doubleheader 5-3 and 4-2 to Olivet College to finish 14-18-1.  HU will now head into post-season play where they are the fifth seed for the MCC Tournament.  The Foresters will face Indiana Wesleyan, the fourth seed, in opening round action at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 30 at Indiana Wesleyan.

In the opener at Olivet, HU things started right out of the gate.  Kendra Stahl led off with a single and Brittney Bateman brought her in with a triple to right-center.  Brittany Gower then drove in Bateman with a double down the leftfield line.

Unfortunately, the lead was short-lived as the Comets plated three in their half of the frame.  Olivet increased its advantage to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.  The Foresters made things interesting in the top of the seventh.  With two outs, they put the tying runs on base.  Megan Smith scored on a passed ball, but the other two were stranded at second and third when Gower grounded out to end the game.

Lauren Ward (8-9) took the loss for HU.  She threw six innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out eight.  Stahl led the Foresters at the plate with a 3-4 performance.

In game two, three Forester errors that led to three unearned Comet runs created a deficit to large for HU to overcome.  Olivet scored once in the third, once in the fourth and twice in the fifth before the Foresters finally got on the board.  HU pushed one across in the sixth and another in the seventh, but couldn't catch the Comets.

Ashley Scally (4-8) went the distance in the loss.  She allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings of work.  Kendra Stahl and Tabitha Truax each had two hits in the game for the Foresters.
