04.03.08 - The Foresters gave NAIA 12th-ranked Bethel College all it could handle, but came up short in both games of a doubleheader losing 2-0 in eight innings and 3-1 to the Pilots.

The opener was a pitcher's dual with HU's Lauren Ward battling last year's MCC Pitcher of the Year, Brittany Hire. Both threw seven innings of shutout ball, but it was the Pilots that finally came up with the big hit.  Bethel's Katie Boocher drilled a two-out double to left in the top of the eighth that drove in two runs.  Ward singled in the bottom of the frame, but finished the game stranded at first.

Ward (4-3) went the distance in the loss.  She allowed two runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out six. The Foresters managed just two hits in the game off Hire.

In game two, the Pilots scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and added a third in the fifth for an early lead.  HU got it's only run of the day in the bottom of the sixth on a Brittney Bateman triple to right-center which she then scored on when the Pilots made a wild throw.

Ashley Scally (0-4) took the loss for the Foresters.  She threw all seven innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and she struck out four.  Keri Badenhop was the lone Forester with two hits in the game including a double in the fourth.

With the two losses, HU falls to 4-8-1 on the season and 2-2 in the MCC.
