05.06.08 - Making their first appearance in school history in the NAIA Region VIII Tournament, the Foresters battled but came up short in their first two games.  They fell 6-0 to Aquinas College in game one and then were ousted from the tournament with a 4-2 loss in eight innings to Indiana Tech.

In the opener, HU couldn't put anything together offensively.  The Foresters managed just five hits in the contest and were shut out by the Saints.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings.  Aquinas blew the game open with five runs in the top of the fifth and then added one more in the seventh.

Lauren Ward was the pitcher of record for HU.  She went five innings and allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three.  Laura Baas was the lone Forester with two hits in the game.  Megan Smith added a double.

HU then met Indiana Tech in the loser's bracket.  The pitchers dominated the early innings.  Neither team mounted an attack until the sixth inning.  The Warriors struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the frame, but the Foresters answered with two in their half of the inning.  Neither team scored in the seventh, so they went to extra innings.  Indiana Tech wasted little time plating two runs in the top of the eighth, but this time HU did not respond.

Ward took the loss for the Foresters.  She threw all eight innings and gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five.  Six different players had a hit in the game for HU.

The Foresters concluded their season with a 17-22-1 record, matching the second-highest win total in the program's 27-year history.
