03.19.09 - On their fourth day of games in Tucson, Arizona, the Foresters went 2-1 with a 6-0 loss to NAIA 5th-ranked Dickinson State to begin the day followed by a 12-4 win over Cardinal Stritch and a 10-4 victory over Mayville State.

In game one, HU managed just four hits against the 5th-ranked Blue Hawks and committed two errors that led to three unearned Dickinson State runs.

The Blue Hawks scored once in the second and fourth and then took control of the game with three runs in the fifth.  With one more insurance run in the sixth, Dickinson State closed out the 6-0 win.

Lauren Ward went the distance in the loss.  She allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six.

In their second game of the day, the Foresters used a 7-run fourth inning to earn the come-from-behind victory over Cardinal Stritch.  The Wolves had a big first inning scoring four runs, but it was all they would get.

HU got one back in their half of the first and pulled within one with a pair of runs in the third.  The Foresters then broke the game open with their fourth inning onslaught.  HU took advantage of six singles, three walks and two passed balls to score the seven runs and then held Cardinal Stritch scoreless the final two and a half innings.

Molly Long picked up the win for the Foresters in relief of Ashley Scally.  She threw three and a third scoreless innings and allowed just one hit while striking out five.  Jeanine Vaszari went 3-4 at the plate to lead HU and Ashley McCann drove in a game-high three runs.

The Foresters' final game of the day was a rematch with Mayville State and they earned the sweep with the 12-4 win in five innings.

HU scored three in the first, but the Comets battled back to take a 4-3 lead with a pair of runs in the second and third.  Brita Kuiper put the Foresters back on top for good with a two-run blast to left in the bottom of the third.  HU put together seven hits including a leadoff homerun by Ward for five runs in the fourth and then ended the game early with two more runs in the fifth.

Long notched her second win of the day.  She threw all five innings and allowed four runs on six hits while striking our four.  Vaszari and Kuiper both had three hits in the contest  for HU and Brittany Gower had two hits, including a triple, and a team-leading three RBI.

At the end of the day, the Foresters stood at 6-3 on the season.
