03.24.09 - The Foresters started out the MCC season with two tough losses falling 3-2 and 4-2 to Marian College on Tuesday.

In game one, the Foresters got behind in the second inning when Marian scored a run.  HU tied it up in the top of the fifth, only to give up two runs in the bottom of the inning to the Knights.

HU tried to rally back from the two-run deficit by adding one run in the seventh, but it was not enough. The Foresters finished with eight hits in their 3-2 loss.

Lauren Ward pitched the full six innings giving up six hits and one walk.  The Foresters out-hit Marian 8-6 but couldn't capitalize as they left six runners on base.

In their second game of the day, the Foresters had a similar start giving up one run in the second.  Marian added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning and took a 2-0 lead.

HU got two runs back on a Ward home run to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth.  However, the Knights added another two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good at 4-2.

Molly Long took the tough loss for the Foresters giving up eight hits on the day while striking out five.

At the end of the day, the Foresters stood at 7-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference on the season.
