04.08.09 - The Foresters had trouble getting their bats going in the first game of a doubleheader with Goshen College and fell 4-1, but came back with a 10-1 rout in the second game.

In the opener, HU struggled to make solid contact at the plate and finished the game with just three hits and one run.  Goshen pushed the first run across in the top of the second and the Foresters tied it with one in the bottom of the third.  The Maple Leafs scored twice in the fourth and once more in the fifth to put HU away.

Lauren Ward went the distance in the loss.  She allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out 14 batters.  Brandi Gower had two of HU's three hits in the game.

In game two, Goshen took the lead with a run in the top of the first, but it didn't last long.  The Foresters plated three runs in the bottom of the frame without a hit in the inning.  They scored on a passed ball, an error and a sacrifice fly to take a 3-1 lead.  HU added another run in both the second and third and then brought the game to an early close with five runs in the fifth.

Molly Long recorded the win for the Foresters. She threw a two-hitter and allowed one run a one walk while striking out seven.  Keri Badenhop had two hits for HU including a double and Jeanine Vaszari and Alicia Willour both had two RBI in the game.

The split gives the Foresters a 15-9 record on the season and a 3-3 record in the MCC.
