03.26.09 - Huntington University softball coach Doug Gower announced that Manchester High School standout, Katie Bowers, has signed a Letter of Intent to play softball and volleyball for the Foresters next year.

The shortstop has earned First Team All-Conference honors in the Three Rivers Conference in each of her three seasons to date and was the Wabash County Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior.  As a junior, she was named to the Warsaw Times Union All-Area Team and earned Academic All-Conference honors. Bowers has improved her softball skills playing for various club teams in the offseason.  Most recently, she has played for the Indy Edge 16 and under team and the Fort Wayne Fire 18 and under squad.

Bowers also plans to compete for the Forester volleyball program.  As a four-year varsity player for the Squires, she was named to the Wabash County First Team and the Three Rivers All-Conference Second Team in her final two seasons.  She also earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Elmhurst Invitational this past season.
