07.22.09 - Huntington University softball coach Doug Gower announced that Huntington North standout, Lindsey Karst, has signed a Letter of Intent to play softball for the Foresters next year.

In her final high school season, Karst, the Lady Vikings' starting right fielder, had a .842 fielding percentage and finished third on the team in stolen bases.  Karst played in 20 of Huntington North's 21 games, leading the team to a 12-9 finish.

"I'm pretty excited," Karst said. "I've been playing since I was a little girl, so it's a great honor to keep going.  Not a lot of girls get to do it."

During her high school career the Vikings won two sectional titles and three North Central Conference championships.

"Lindsey will add a lot to our team, " Gower said.  "She adds depth to our outfield and team speed. I expect her to be able to come in and be a good base runner."
