Coming off the best season in HU's history, the Foresters have good reason for optimism. While there are some big shoes to fill in the loss of four seniors, Coach Gower is bringing back a solid group of returning players and a host of new players.

Huntington is led by sophomore pitcher Molly Long, who went 13-8-1 last year with
a 1.85 ERA and 153 strikeouts in 121 innings. Joining her are sophomores Brita
Kuiper and Jeanine Vaszari who both started forty games last year and posted
batting averages of .311 and .306 respectively. 

While returning a very good core of young players from last year, Coach Gower’s newcomers are also a talented group of individuals that will make an impact with athleticism and quickness.  Junior transfer, Aubrey Garner, will look to contribute
right away at second base.  The freshman class is also expected to make early contributions.  Katie Bowers (SS, Manchester HS) is a very athletic and versatile player who is expected to make an immediate impact. Stacie Rawnsley (P, Fishers HS), and Katie Dwyer (1B, Kalamazoo Christian HS) are anxious to show what they can do at the collegiate level.  

“We are bringing in the largest and most talented recruiting class in recent
years,” said Coach Gower.  “I am looking to keep the trend of 'improving every
year.' We lost some key players in Ward, Gower, McCann, Scally and Badenhop
but we are replacing them with great athletes who are very accomplished.”
