Head
Coach Doug
Gower enters his fourth season at the Forester helm. Last
season, the Foresters posted 16 wins, the most in Gower's three
years and the highest total since the spring of 1986. With a solid
recruiting class, he is optimistic about moving the program another
step forward this season.
Gower, a
1982 graduate of the university, has played or coached baseball and
softball in a variety of settings. He
played second and third base for the Forester baseball team during
his four years at HU.
He spent time as an assistant baseball coach at Huntington
North High School and Canterbury High School.
He then headed Canterbury's baseball program for a season and was named the MAC Coach of the Year.
Before taking the reins of the Foresters' softball program, he
served as an assistant in the program for
three years.
Currently,
he is a Materials Supervisor with Ti Automotive in Ossian and helps
run the family business, Big Red Sporting Goods.
Doug, his wife Wendy, who serves as the university’s
Technology Services Office Manager, and children Brittany, Brandi,
and Brock, reside in Huntington and attend Markle Church of Christ. |
