04.16.05 - Both the Forester men and women�s track teams finished third at the Manchester College Invitational. On the women�s side, several Foresters got in the action with five firsts and eight second place finishers at the meet. The winners included Christi Shook in the 400 with a time of 1:01.9, Brittany Fillman in the 800 with her time of 2:21.0, Elizabeth Ngugi in the 5000 in 19:24.3, Melissa McFadden in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters, and the 4x400 relay (Shook, Fillman, Heidi Christner, and Courtney Gullickson) with a time of 4:15.5. Christner also added three runner-ups in the 100 (13.0), the 200 (27.2) and the high jump (1.53 m) to go along with her win in the relay. Brittany Harvey secured a one-two finish for HC in the 800 as she was just eight seconds behind Fillman at the line. Emily Sealscott was second in the steeplechase with a time of 12:13.1, Lisa Isabelli took second in the hammer with a toss of 37.76 meters and McFadden added a second in the triple jump with her mark of 9.63 meters. HC�s 4x100 relay was the final second place finish for the Foresters. Shook, Fillman, Christner, and Isabelli combined for a time of 52.6. Manchester College won the women�s event with a score of 214.5. Bethel College took second with 202.5, followed by HC (182), Defiance College (55) and Tri-State University (5).

In men�s action, the Foresters had much of their success in the distance races. Joseph Waithira was the lone winner for HC in the 1500. He nipped teammate David St. Louis by three seconds with the winning time of 4:06.5. Cody Hannie had two second place finishes, one in the 800 with a time of 1:57.2 and one in the 5000 with a time of 16.20.5, and Ross Luckett was the runner-up in the steeplechase with his time of 10:07.3. Bethel took the men�s title with 232.5 points. Manchester was second with 213.5, followed by HC with 86, Tri-State with 69.5, and Defiance with 39.5.
