04.02.05 - Bethel College took both the men and women's titles
in the four-team Forester Invitational on Saturday. In women's
action, the Pilots scored 195 points followed by HC with 174.5, Alma
College with 162.5, and the University of St. Francis with 93.
The Foresters had four winners on the day. In the field events, Lisa
Isabelli took first in the hammer with her toss of 120-4, and Melissa
McFadden cleared 5-0 to win the high jump. On the track, Emily
Sealscott finished first in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:44.5,
and Brittany Fillman won the 800 in 2:29.9 with Brittany Harvey second in
2:35.5. Other second place finishers for the Foresters included Jen
Shook (discus, 108-11), McFadden (triple jump, 31-4), Christi Shook (400,
1:04.4), Elizabeth Ngugi (5000, 20:07.8), and both relays (4x100, 52.84,
4x400, 4:15.5).
On the men's side, Bethel blew away the
competition with 218 points. Alma was a distant second with 103, HC
third with 101, and St. Francis fourth with 82. The Forester
highlights came in the distance races. Cody Hannie sprinted past Matt
Wells at the finish line to win the 1500 by 5/100 of a second in a time of
4:16.4. David St. Louis crossed first in the 3000 steeplechase in
10:18.3, and Joseph Waithira won the men's 5000 with a time of 16:31.6.
HC also added a few second place finishes including Joel Sanders (2:00.1)
in the 800, Ross Luckett (1:04.2) in the 400 hurdles, and both relays
(4x100, 53.16 and 4x400, 3:39.4). |
