07.20.05 - The Huntington University Forester Track and Field program has announced its freshmen class for the 2005-06 season. Twenty-two individuals, 11 athletes on the women's squad and 11 athletes on the men's squad, round out one of the largest recruiting classes under the helm of Coach Tom King.

The women's squad will add depth to its middle distance events with the additions of 800 meter runners Liz Huber (Dimondale, Mich./Holt), Vanessa Macias (Markle, Ind./Norwell) and Lauren Davenport (Andrews, Ind./Huntington North), as well as 1500 meter runners Jill Roughia (Bryant, Ind./Jay County) and Laura Bowman (LaFontaine, Ind./Southwood). In the distance events, Megan DeRenzo (Winona Lake, Ind./Warsaw) will contribute additional success.

Five ladies will participate in the sprints, hurdles and field events. Katie Crandall (Anderson, Ind./Lapel) will join an already talented high jump crew and bring needed depth in the hurdles. Joining her in the hurdle races and sprints will be Sarah Bennett (Colchester, Conn./Bacon Academy) and Cassie Lehman (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central). Kim Hart (Monroe, Ind./Adams Central) joins the team in the long jump and 400 meters while Meagan Gibson (Hamilton, Ind./Hamilton) will contribute in the throwing events.

For the men, five athletes join the distance events including Luke Andrews (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood Community), Nick Johnson (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North), Michael Lehman (Berne, Ind./South Adams), Dan Lindbloom (Evergreen Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) and Joseph Mburu (Thika, Kenya). In addition, Josh Barnett (Franklin, Ind./Edinburgh) will specialize in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

In the mid-distance events, Alex Milentis (Fort Wayne, Ind./North Side) and Adam Widener (Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland) join a strong returning 800 meter and 1500 meter crew, and Shane Feemster (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North) will bring needed depth in the sprints. Rounding out the squad in the field events is pole vaulter Casey Morgan (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) and shot put, discus and hammer stand out Lucas Beach (Lucerne, Ind./Pioneer).

The Forester track and field squad will begin training in the fall of 2005 with the first indoor meet to be scheduled in January, 2006.
