01.28.06 - The men and women's track teams competed in a non-scored meet at the University of Findlay on the weekend.  Highlights from the event include three individuals and one relay team meeting NAIA qualification standards in their respective events.

Topping the list was an outstanding individual effort by sophomore Joel Sanders.  Sanders not only qualified for NAIA Indoor Nationals in the 1000 meter run with his time of 2:32.63, but also broke his own school record of 2:33.63 in the process.  His time placed him fourth in the event.  Two freshmen also got in the act.  Lucas Beach was the eighth place finisher in the shot put with a throw of 48'11.5", the second best throw in school history, and Nick Johnson finished ninth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:01.78, the fourth best time in HU's record books.  Both marks met NAIA provisional qualification standards for competing in Indoor Nationals.  The Forester 4x800 relay team of Adam Widner, David St. Louis, Cody Hannie, and Sanders also met NAIA provisional standards with their sixth place finish in 8:01.64.

In women’s action, Jill Roughia turned in the Foresters' top performance of the day.  She finished eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.58.  Roughia also ran a 5:35.22 mile to finish 16th in the event.  Freshman Katie Crandall had three top 20 finishes in the 400 (16th, 1:03.89), high jump (16th, 4'11") and triple jump (20th, 31"4").  Freshman Vanessa Macias was 13th in the 1000 meter run (3:24.42) and 20th in the one mile run (5:43.21), and junior Emily Sealscott came in 18th in the 5000 meter run with her time of 20:44.
