04.01.06 - Both Forester track squads finished third at the Manchester Spartans Invitational.  The women scored 163 points and the men finished with 129.  The host Spartans swept the Invitational winning the women's title with a score of 230 and the men's with 156 points. 

In women's action, the Foresters grabbed eight first place finishes with Katie Crandall earning three.  She swept the hurdle events winning the 100 m in 16.62 and the 400 m in 1:09.38. She also won the high jump with a leap of 1.52 meters.  Emily Sealscott provided another highlight for HU meeting the NAIA provisional qualification standard in the 3000 m steeplechase with her winning time of 11:38.71.  Her time also improved her personal best mark in the race by 21 seconds and qualifies her to participate in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Fresno, California in May.  Other Forester winners on the day included Lauren Davenport (800m, 2:29.05), Brittany Fillman (400m, 1:00.14), Lisa Isabelli (hammer throw, 40.89m) and HU's 4x400 relay (4:13.50).

The men took top honors in four events.  Joel Sanders won the 800 m run with a time of 1:55.8. Cody Hannie took the 1500 m with a winning time of 4:11.99.  Nick Johnson crossed the line in 15:59.3 to win the 5000 m run, and Lucas Beach dominated the shot put event with a throw of 14.14 m.
