Christner leads HU women to second place finish, men fourth

04.22.06 - Heidi Christner scored 35.5 points to lead the Forester women to a second place finish at the Wilmington College Track and Field Invitational.  Baldwin-Wallace College won the women's event with 155 points.  The host Quakers took the men's title with 181.5 points with the Forester men finishing fourth.

Christner showed her versatility by placing in sixth different events for the Foresters.  She took second in the 100 with a time of 13.34 and finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 30' 10.25 ".  She also placed fourth in three events including the 200 (27.88), the javelin (97' 2") and the high jump (tie at 4' 10.25"), and she ran a leg of HU's 4x100 relay (Cassie Lehman, Katie Crandall, Brittany Fillman, Christner) that finished fourth with a time of 51.97.  Katie Crandall also had a big day with a second place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:07.18), a third in the 100 hurdles (16.01) and a seventh in the high Jump (4' 10.25").  She also ran a leg of the Foresters winning 4x400 relay (Lauren Davenport, Jill Roughia, Crandall, Fillman, 4:05.71) and the fourth place 4x100 relay.

Other top four finishers included Emily Sealscott with a second in the steeplechase (12:01.88), Brittany Fillman with a second in the 400 (59.64), and Jill Roughia with a third in the 1500 (5:06.45) and a fourth in the 800 (2:27.50).  Molly Andrews also turned in a fourth in the 5000 with a time of 19:51.51 and Lisa Isabelli was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 124' 3".

Following Baldwin-Wallace in the team standings was HU (115.50), Wilmington (108.5), Earlham (90), Wright State (78), Muskingum (53.5), Ohio Wesleyan (51), Wittenburg (32.5), Shawnee State (28) and Columbus State (1).

The Forester men were paced by three individual winners.  Cody Hannie crossed the line first in the 1500 with a time of 4:06.05 and Joel Sanders took the 800 with a winning time of 1:56.07.  Lucas Beach won the shot put with a mark of 52' 7.5" and also took fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 143' 11".  Other highlights for the men included a second place finish for David St. Louis in the steeplechase in 10:10.54 with Michael Lehman right behind him in third with a time of 10:16.42.  HU's 4x400 relay of St. Louis, Hannie, Dan Lindbloom, and Sanders finished third with a time of 3:30.39.

Wittenburg finished second behind Wilmington with a team score of 105.5 followed by Heidelberg (85), HU (70) Baldwin-Wallace (66), Ohio Wesleyan (58.5, Earlham (48), Muskingum (43.5), Myers (34), Central State (19), Dayton (14), and Columbus State (11).
