03.31.07 - Facing
some stiff NCAA Division I competition didn't phase Lucas Beach as he won
the shot put event with a toss of 15.51 meters at the Liberty University
Asics Invitational. Beach also finished seventh in the hammer throw with
his 46.25 meter mark.
Four other Foresters
posted top eight finishes for the men in the non-scored meet. Joel
Sanders finished fourth in the 800 with a time of 1:53.75. Dan
Lindbloom was fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:52.50 and Michael
Lehman was fifth with a time of 10:27.10. Joseph Njeri placed sixth
in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:38.49 and Lindbloom came in right
behind him with a time of 15:41.97. The men's 4x400 relay also
placed fourth with a time of 3:29.88.
On the women's side, seven
individuals brought home top eight finishes and three relay teams.
Michelle Kyler had the top finish for the HU with a fourth place in the
pole vault (2.90 m). She also added a seventh place finish in the
400 m hurdles with a time of 1:08.54. Katie Crandall had a sixth
place (high jump, 1.45 m) finish and eighth place (100 m hurdles, 16.21
and 400 m hurdles, 1:10.35) finishes. Heidi Christner took sixth in the
javelin with a toss of 28.82 meters. Lauren Davenport ran a 2:23.61
in the 800 meter run for sixth place and Jill Roughia was seventh with her
time of 2:24.70. Bethany McGraw had two seventh place finishes in
the long jump (16-01.50) and triple jump (31-04.50) and Colleen Knox
cleared 2.74 meters in the pole vault to finish seventh. Both of
HU's 4x400 relay teams had impressive finishes with one team placing fifth
in 4:08.15 and the other seventh in 4:15.22. The Foresters' 4x100
relay placed sixth with a time of 52.91.
