02.16.08 - HU competed at the DePauw Indoor Classic and three Forester men brought home a first place finish as well as qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships to be held in Johnson City, Tennessee March 6-8. In the men's competition, HU finished seventh of 22 teams and the women were 13th of 22.

Lucas Beach won the shot put with a mark of 16.26 meters.  Joel Sanders crossed the line first in the 1000 meter run with a qualifying time of 2:31.76 and Tobias Sauter took first in the 5000 meter run with his time of 15:11.46.  Dan Lindbloom finished second in the 3000 meter run in  8:53.81 and met NAIA provisional standards with his time.  Nick Johnson was right behind Lindbloom in third place in the 3000 with his time of 8:58.79.

The University of Indianapolis won the men's title with 76.5 points followed by Illinois Wesleyan (67) in second, Illinois College third (60) and Cumberlands and Bethel tied for fourth.

In women's action, Bethany McGraw was HU's top finisher with three fifth place finishes in the 200 meter dash (27.03), the long jump (5.17 m) and the triple jump (10.68 m).  Jill Roughia was sixth in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:19.60.

Austin Peay won the women's event with a score of 137.5. Rounding out the top five places was Illinois Wesleyan second with 131 points, Alabama-Huntsville third with 67 points, Rhodes fourth with 64 points and Bethel fifth with 59 points.
