05.22.08Six of the eight Foresters who qualified to compete in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri saw action during the events of day one with three advancing to the semifinals of their respective events.

Senior Joel Sanders won his heat in the 800 meter trials with a time of 1:54.01 to move on to the semis which will take place today at 3:35 p.m.  Lauren Davenport ran a 1:04.61 in her heat of the 400 meter hurdles to finish fourth and advance to today's semifinals at 5:15 p.m.  Dan Lindbloom was seventh in his heat of the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:22.70 to qualify him for the finals of the event on Saturday at 2:20 p.m.

Other Foresters competing included Bethany McGraw who finished 17th in the long jump with a leap of 17-04.75, Joseph Njeri, who finished the 10,000 meter run in 32:36.52 for a 20th place finish, and Luke Diehl, who was 28th in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:54.56.

Joining Sanders and Davenport in action today is Lucas Beach and Nick Johnson.  Beach will take to the field for HU at 1:00 p.m. today in the shot put finals and Johnson will toe the line in the semifinals of the 5000 meter run at 7:30 this evening.
