05.01.08 - Eight Foresters competed in the Butler University Twilight track meet on the weekend, several of whom were looking to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri May 22-24.

Nick Johnson did just that in the 5000 meter run.  He finished second in the event with a qualifying time of 14:56.18, nearly 25 seconds faster than his previous best.  He joins Dan Lindbloom (3000 meter steeplechase), Lucas Beach (shot put), Joseph Njeri (10,000 meter run), Lauren Davenport (400 meter hurdles) and Bethany McGraw (long jump) on the list of Foresters that will be heading to St. Louis to participate in the national event.

In men's action at the Butler Twilight, Joel Sanders placed third in the 800 with a time of 1:57.06 for HU. Kameron Bailey finished eighth in the 400 meter dash in 51.25 as well as 10th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.51.  Beach placed ninth in the hammer (47.17 m).  Sean LaFontaine ran a 1:00.55 in the 400 hurdles to finish 12th and Lindbloom was 15th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:11.80.

On the women's side, Davenport ran a 1:07.95 in the 400 hurdles to finish sixth.  McGraw was seventh in the triple jump with her leap of 10.59 meters and also finished 13th in the long jump (4.96 m).
