05.09.08 - Luke Diehl and Joel Sanders joined six other
Foresters in having met qualifying standards to compete in the NAIA
Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri May
22-24.
Sanders finished fourth of
46 runners in the 800 meter run at the North Central College Invitational
with a time of 1:53.58 to qualify and Diehl met the standard with a
9:36.28 time in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Two other HU athletes
improved their previous qualifying marks at the invitational. Lucas
Beach added nearly two and a half feet to his season best with a toss of
53-04.50 to win the shot put event. Lauren Davenport took
approximately two seconds off her best time in the 400 hurdles with her
fourth place finish in 1:03.67.
Those four join Nick Johnson
(5000 meter run), Dan Lindbloom (3000 meter
steeplechase), Joseph Njeri (10,000 meter run) and
Bethany McGraw
(long jump) on the list of Foresters that will be heading to St. Louis to
participate in the national event.
Other Forester competitors
at the North Central College invite included Davenport (800m, 11th,
2:19.30), Nick Johnson (1500m, 20th, 4:01.31) and Dan Lindbloom
(steeplechase, 15th, 9:23.52). |
