03.28.09 - The Foresters traveled to Lexington, Virginia to
compete in the VMI & Washington and Lee Carnival and had four
individuals qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National
Championships May 21-23. The event was not scored.
Lauren Davenport paced the women with two wins
at the meet. She ran away from the field to win the 800 in 2:13.36
a time that broke the school record and qualified her to compete in the
event at Nationals. She also crossed the line first in the 400
hurdles with a time of 1:05.82. Kelsey Green brought home the
other win for HU. Her winning toss was 39.03m.
Other individual top eight finishes included
Bethany McGraw, who placed second in the 100 (12.85), third in the 200
(26.85), sixth in the long jump (5.16m) and seventh in the triple jump
(10.41m). Josann Schoeff was fourth in the 200 in 27.00.
Haleigh Osborne was fourth in the shot at 10.91m and sixth in the discus
with a mark of 31.83m. Jill Roughia was sixth in the 3000 meter
steeplechase in 12:20.69 and Cassie Lehman was eighth in the 100 hurdles
in 16.90.
In men's action, Lucas Beach won the hammer
with a toss of 51.79m to qualify for Nationals. He also finished
fourth in the shot with a mark of 14.25m. Nick Johnson was second
in the 5000 and qualified for Nationals with his time of 14:56.54 and
Dan Lindbloom improved on his qualifying time in the 3000 meter
steeplechase with a second place finish in 9:29.55.
Other top eight finishers for HU included
Joseph Njeri (2nd, 33:05.32) in the 10,000, Kameron Bailey (5th, 50.10)
in the 400 and (7th, 22.87) in the 200, Luke Diehl (6th, 9:58.76) in the
steeplechase, Matthias Haller (6th, 1:53.90) in the 800, Joseph Herber
(7th, 15:18.28) in the 5000 and Todd Fiedler (8th, 47.51m) in the
