03.07.09 - Two Huntington University seniors, Lucas Beach and Nick Johnson, brought home NAIA All-America honors after finishing fourth in their respective events at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

Lucas Beach, a Bible and religion and physical education double major from Lucerne, Ind. (Pioneer High School), earned his third Indoor All-America honor in the shot put with his toss of 53-08.25.  His fourth place finish was the best of his career after placing fifth in the event as a freshman and sixth as a sophomore.

Nick Johnson, an exercise science major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), earned his first NAIA Track All-America honor in the 5000 meter with a personal best time of 14:47.16.  This past fall, Johnson was also a NAIA All-American in cross country.

Five other Foresters participated in the National Championships and gained valuable experience competing against the NAIA's top athletes.

Dan Lindbloom, a senior exercise science major from Evergreen Park, Ill. (Chicago Christian High School), qualified for the finals of the 3000 meter and posted his best finish in three national appearances placing eighth overall with a time of 8:42.33.

Bethany McGraw, a junior exercise science major from Perrysburg, Ohio (Toledo Christian High School), competed for the third time in the long jump.  McGraw came away with a 10th place finish with a leap of 17-08.75.

Matthias Haller, a freshman biology major from Lahr, Germany, was a first-time qualifier at the national event and ran to a 13th place finish in the 800 meter with his time of 1:57.54.

Joseph Herber, a freshman business management major from Fremont, Ind. (Fremont High School), also made his debut on the national level.  He placed 17th in the 3000 meter with a time of 9:06.42.

Joseph Njeri, a senior sociology major from Nairobi, Kenya, made his third appearance at the Indoor Championships and turned in his best finish placing 27th in the 5000 meter with his time of 15:50.56.
