04.11.09 - The Foresters competed in the 104th Annual Little State Championships held at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday.  Both the men and women finished seventh in their respective meets.

Lauren Davenport continued her dominance of the 400 meter and 400 hurdles winning both events with times of 58.19 and 1:04.11 respectively.  She also followed those performances by running a leg of the 4x400 relay in 48.3 to help the team finish third.  Other HU highlights included a second place finish in the long jump by Bethany McGraw (17-02.75), a sixth place finish in the discus (126-02) and an eighth place finish in the javelin (98-03) by Kelsey Green and two seventh place finishes by Haleigh Osborne in the shot (39-09.25) and Kayley Cervenka in the javelin (99-02).

The University of Indianapolis took the women's team title with 157.50 points followed by Indiana Wesleyan University with 145 and Bethel College with 103.50.  HU was seventh in the field of 15 teams with a score of 42.

On the men's side, Nick Johnson was the lone Forester to win an event.  He crossed the line 10 seconds ahead of his closest competitor in 5000 meter run with a time of 14:55.82.  Joseph Njeri met provisional standards to compete in the NAIA Outdoor Track National Championships in the 10,000 meter with his second place time of 31:55.16.  Lucas Beach was third in the shot (51-09.75 and fifth in the hammer (170-02).  Sean LaFontaine placed third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.59.  Dan Lindbloom finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:28.86 and Luke Diehl was fifth in the event in 9:50.16.

Indiana Wesleyan University won the men's championship with a team score of 119 followed by Vincennes University with 115.50 and the University of Indianapolis with 109.  The Foresters were seventh of 18 teams with a score of 47.
