01.30.09 - The
Foresters competed at the Trine University Indoor Track Invitational
where the men placed second and the women finished fourth.
The men brought home four
first places finishes for the evening. Kam Bailey took top honors
in the 400 meter with a time of 52.53. Crossing the line first in
the 1000 meter was Joseph Herber with a time of 2:44.66. Todd
Fiedler's leap of 12.51 meters in the triple jump earned him a first
place finish. The distance medley relay team of Alex Rosario, Matt
Bittner, Ethan Medley and Isaiah Laatsch won with a time of 12:19.19.
Other top three finishers included Luke Diehl in the 1000 meter (2nd,
2:44.69) and mile (2nd, 4:36.04), Joseph Herber in the mile (3rd,
4:39.59), Todd Fiedler in the long jump (2nd, 6.04m), Sean LaFontaine in
the long jump (3rd, 5.69m) and Kam Bailey in the 200 meter (3rd, 23.33).
The 4x400 relay team finished second in 3:36.94.
Trine took the men's team
title with a score of 162 followed by HU (144.50), Indiana Tech (117),
Saint Francis (91.50) and Goshen (30).
On the women's side,
Abbey Wise and Molly Shirey
turned in the Foresters' top performances of the day placing
first in their respective events. Wise earned the top spot in the 1000 meter with a time of 3:21.07
while Shirey brought home top honors in the 5000 meter with her time of
21:22.23. The 4x400 meter relay team of Mariah Town, Gaynel
Mullings, Abbey Wise and Michelle Kyler ran a 4:21.94 to capture first
place.
Other top three finishes included Josann Schoeff in the 60 meter (2nd,
8.30), Mariah Town in the 200 (2nd, 28.89) and Michelle Kyler in the
pole vault (2nd, 2.75 meters).
Saint Francis won the women's event with a score of 141 followed by
Trine (116), Indiana Tech (80), HU (74.50), Spring Arbor (69.50) and
Goshen (16).
