Foresters second at Earlham Invitational

4/8 -  The men and women's track teams competed at the Earlham Track Invitational and both finished second out of four teams participating in the event. In women's action, five individuals won their respective events. Courtney Gullickson took first in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:12.00 and added a second place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.60. Kellie Hanson threw the discus 118' 09" to take top honors. Lisa Isabelli had the best throw with the javelin at 95'10" and also placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 28' 9.5". Nicole Jacob finished 11 seconds ahead of her closest competitor in the 1500 with a time of 5:00.90. Jacob also finished with a 2:33.40 in the 800, good for second place, and Elizabeth Ngugi won the 5000 in 19:48.60, about 14 seconds ahead of teammate Molly Andrews who finished in 20:03.00. Other top individual finishers for HC included Kara Fultz, who finished second in the long jump at 14' 9" and third in the 400 in 1:01.50, and Ashley Gonterman, who finished second in both the 100 (12.80) and 200 (26.80). HC's 4x400 relay team added a sixth first place finish for the team with a time of 4:11.40 and the 4x100 relay team came in second in 51.30. Earlham College won the meet with a team score of 173, followed by HC (159.5), Marian College (116), and Franklin College (101.5).

On the men's side, Jonathan Doyle brought home two first place finishes winning the 110 hurdles (15.80) and the 400 hurdles (58.40) and also took second place in the triple jump at 37' 4.5". Jon Pelz took first in the 400 with a time of 51:00 and David St.Louis won the steeplechase in 9:52.20, almost 24 seconds ahead of teammate Ross Luckett who came in second with a time of 10:16.00. Other highlights for the men included Cody Hannie, who finished second in the 1500 (4:08.30) and third in the 800 (1:58.70), Cory Thompson, who had a second in the long jump (19') and a third in the triple jump (35' 7"), and Joseph Waithira with a third place in the 1500 in 4:09.80. The Foresters 4x400 relay team completed the HC sweep in the event, winning with a time of 3:25.20, while the 4x100 relay team finished third in 44:50. Earlham also won the men's competition with 192.5 points, followed by HC (154), Marian College (131), and Franklin College (90.5).
