Women second, men fourth at ONU Invite

4/24 -  Both of the Forester track teams traveled to Illinois to compete in the Olivet Nazarene University Mid-Season Invitational. The host Tigers won both the men (123 points) and women's (159 points) events with the HC women finishing second (130) and the men fourth (75). In women's action, HC had three individual winners. Ashley Gonterman won the 100 with a time of 13.14 and finished second in the 200 in 27.39. Gonterman also ran a leg in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays that both took second place with respective times of 52.16 and 4:16.55. Courtney Gullickson posted the winning time of 1:09.00 in the 400 hurdles, ran the lead leg on the second place 4x400 relay, and finished fourth in the 100 hurdles in 18.23. Lisa Isabelli had the longest throw with the hammer at 147' 1". She also ran the lead leg for the second place 4x100 relay and added a third place in the triple jump with a leap of 28' 9.25". Other top finishers included Brittany Fillman (400, 2nd, 1:00.82), Nicole Jacob (1500, 2nd, 4:59.85), Brooke Welch (steeplechase, 2nd, 12:25.59 and 400 hurdles, 4th, 1:12.80), Kellie Hanson (discus, 2nd, 118' and hammer, 2nd, 93' 02"), Kara Fultz (long jump, 3rd, 15' 00.75" and 400, 4th, 1:02.45), Emily Sealscott (steeplechase, 3rd, 12:59.79), Molly Andrews (1500, 4th, 5:12.91), and Elizabeth Ngugi (5000, 4th, 21:09.4).

In men's action, Jonathan Doyle dominated the hurdle events winning the 110 hurdles in 15.21 and the 400 hurdles in 55.78, almost three seconds faster than the second place finisher. Doyle also ran the anchor leg on the third place 4x100 relay team that finished in 44.60 and the third leg on the fourth place 4x400 relay team that finished in 3:31.03. David St. Louis ran a 9:58.95 to win the steeplechase with teammate Ross Luckett finishing second in 10:21.07. Other individual highlights included Jon Pelz's second in the 400 with a time of 51.48, Cody Hannie's third in the 800 in 1:55.65, Joseph Waithira's fourth place in the 1500 in 4:09.53, and Jason Latino's fourth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 31' 2.5".
