| 10.16.04 - After having
their match point rescinded, the Foresters eventually fell to Anderson
University in five games, losing 19-30, 30-22, 30-26, 30-32, 16-18.
After dropping game one, HC took the next two from the Ravens and were up
29-28 serving for match point in game four. When Anderson sent a free
ball over the net to HC, Jami Fusselman set Jessica Kendall. Seeing two
Anderson blockers, Kendall dinked the ball over the block for the kill and
the win. So they thought. The up official called Kendall's hit a
carry and gave the point to Anderson. After much discussion about the
call, the Ravens went on to win the fourth game 32-30 and then held off the
Foresters in game five 18-16 to steal the win. Kendall led HC with 24
kills in the match and added three blocks. Other statistical leaders
for the Foresters included Fusselman with 43 assists, Stephanie Stearns with
36 digs, Tiffany Malfait with seven blocks, and Renee Biberstine with three
aces. The loss drops the women to 9-13 on the season. |
